INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION

General Information
ChildSync offers comprehensive Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) in Occupational Therapy for students who need an objective, outside assessment as part of the special education process.

An IEE is an evaluation conducted by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school district. Families may request an IEE when they disagree with a district’s evaluation or want an independent perspective on their child’s needs.

At ChildSync, our IEEs are thorough, unbiased, and grounded in best practice—designed to clearly identify a student’s strengths, challenges, and educationally relevant occupational therapy needs.
What our OT IEE Includes
Our Occupational Therapy IEE may include:

Legal and IDEA Compliance
ChildSync conducts Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) in Occupational Therapy in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), 34 C.F.R. §300.502.
An IEE is an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the public agency responsible for the student’s education. When a parent or guardian disagrees with a school district’s evaluation, they may request an IEE at public expense, subject to IDEA requirements.

ChildSync’s Occupational Therapy IEEs:
-
Are completed by licensed pediatric occupational therapists with experience in school-based practice
-
Use standardized and non-standardized assessment tools appropriate to the student’s age and educational context
-
Address educational relevance and functional impact within the school environment
-
Are conducted independently and without conflict of interest
-
Meet the district’s reasonable criteria regarding evaluator qualifications, location, and assessment practices, consistent with IDEA
-
Evaluation reports include clear documentation of procedures, results, interpretation, and educationally relevant recommendations to support IEP team decision-making.

ChildSync does not determine services or placements; rather, findings are provided to assist the IEP team in making informed, data-driven decisions in compliance with federal and state special education regulations.
